Through Teacher Training
The Sounds True Foundation provides a limited number of need-based scholarships for qualified applicants to cover the full tuition of the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program (MMTCP).
MMTCP is the world’s leading training program for learning how to teach skills of meditation, awareness, and compassion. Upon completion, scholarship recipients are certified by the Greater Good Science Center at the University of California at Berkeley. The course includes:
Scholarship applications are carefully selected by a panel of staff at the Sounds True Foundation. Each application is carefully reviewed and considered based on the application criteria and the number of scholarships we have to allocate.
Jack trained as a Buddhist monk in Thailand, Burma, and India and has taught worldwide since 1974. He is one of the key teachers to introduce Buddhist mindfulness practices to the West. He holds a PhD in clinical psychology and is the cofounder of the Insight Meditation Society and of Spirit Rock Center in Woodacre, California. He is the author of 15 books, including the bestseller A Path with Heart.
Tara has been practicing and teaching meditation since 1975, leading workshops and meditation retreats at centers throughout North America and Europe. She has a PhD in clinical psychology, is the founder of the Insight Meditation Community of Washington, DC (IMCW), and is the author of Radical Acceptance and True Refuge.

A limited number of scholarships are specifically designated for people in genuine financial need who can demonstrate a deep commitment to bringing the tools of mindfulness to an under-resourced community.
